Installation from “Cut and Run” (2023, Glasgow)

This meticulously recreated workspace offers a rare glimpse into Banksy’s clandestine creative process. Presented in Cut and Run: 25 Years Card Labour, which premiered at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow in 2023, the installation reconstructs the artist’s studio complete with spray cans, stencils, cutting mats, and half-finished works revealing the tools and traces behind some of his most iconic images.

Every detail, from the paint-splattered desk to the discarded tape and notes, evokes the secrecy and spontaneity of street art. While Banksy’s identity remains hidden, this space invites visitors to step inside the atmosphere of creation: part workshop, part crime scene, part performance.

The atelier blurs the line between myth and reality a physical manifestation of the anonymous artist’s world, where rebellion, humour, and craft coexist.
