Boys Climbing Heaven’s Gate
2017
Print on Paper

In this reimagined classical scene, Banksy subverts the traditional image of the pearly gates by depicting children climbing over them instead of awaiting divine entry. The playful yet rebellious act transforms a symbol of salvation into one of defiance and curiosity. Exhibited in The Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem, the work reflects on borders both earthly and spiritual, questioning who decides who may enter and suggesting that innocence and determination can transcend even the most sacred barriers.
