In 2023, for the first time in nearly 15 years, Banksy created a new solo exhibition, ‘Cut & Run – 25 years of Card Labour’ at the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA). 

He released these two posters to promote his show.

The first poster features a rat, stooped over, walking mischievously away with a stencil knife grasped between its hands. The rodent is enclosed within a red circle. 

The image is an echo of Banksy’s street works, when he often sprayed stencils directly onto public street signs and used rats in his works. This rat, with knife, was first seen on a parking sign at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, 2018. That rat had a mask painted on, however here, it is maskless.

The second poster is a little more conventional when compared to the first, with black spray-painted wording overlaid on traditional red block poster titling.
