Americans Working Overhead
2004

Offset lithograph Print on paper

banksyqr 450x2906.jpg

Banksy’s Americans Working Overhead satirises American foreign policy and military intervention by masquerading as a construction warning sign. Instead of a routine message, the text reads “Americans Working Overhead” — the word “Overhead” pointedly evoking the threat of drone strikes and aerial attacks. This ironic twist transforms the everyday language of caution into a sharp critique of the United States’ global military presence.

The piece was released as an official sticker through Pictures on Walls (POW), Banksy’s early print publisher. Rare and collectible, it is identifiable by its original ‘Fasson’ backing paper and catalogue number 018/BNK/5Y.
