Bataclan
2018
Print on Canvas

Painted on the emergency exit door of the Bataclan Theatre in Paris, this poignant stencil depicts a veiled, mourning woman. Created during Banksy’s 2018 visit to the city, the work honours the 89 victims of the 2015 terrorist attack at the venue. The figure’s lace veil and solemn posture evoke both grief and resilience, resembling a modern Madonna watching over the lost. Executed in stark monochrome, the mural serves as a quiet yet powerful tribute to Paris, its people, and the bravery shown in the face of tragedy.
