Because I am Worthless
2004
Print on Paper

In Banksy's artwork ‘Because I'm Worthless,’ a black-and-white stencilled rat stands upright, holding a placard with the words ‘Because I’m Worthless’ in bold red. This satirical twist on the L'Oréal tagline adds a clever wit and a splash of colour to the composition.
The artwork is part of the artist’s Placard Rat series, a trilogy of screen prints released in 2004 featuring the iconic rat holding up witty placards.
The other two screen prints in the Placard Rat series are titled ‘Get Out While You Can’ and ‘Welcome to Hell.’
Each print in the series had 75 signed copies and 175 unsigned copies, available in red and pink colour variations.
