The basis of this artwork came from an original piece that Banksy painted onto the side of a house in Stoke Newington, North London. In that piece, Banksy painted a comical, satirical Royal Family looking like cartoon clowns, standing, and waving from a painted balcony.

In September 2009, against the building owner’s wishes, the local council started to paint over the mural before a residents’ outcry forced them to stop. By that point, most of the artwork had been covered up with black paint.

After a re-working of the image, we now still see a clown on a balcony, however the balcony is now more decrepit, graffiti tagged with a broken window, and the friendlier caricature clown has been swapped out for a solo person wearing a smart suit and anarchist clown mask. He no longer provides a warm wave in gest, but instead stands arms outstretched, hands proudly adorning the ‘V’ sign.

Both CD and DVD releases illustrate the same artwork
