BLUR Think Tank - poster (scuba)
2003
Poster

During Banksy’s trip to Australia while working on the ideas of what the Blur album would look like, one of his sketches included an embracing couple dressed in full diving gear.
The diving motif would appear several times in his works. One early sketched iteration of the couple, involved both figures hugging, with the female diver holding a flower behind the male’s back, and the male diver having his face latch open and a giant tongue hanging out.
Another sketch featured the same diving suit couple sitting down to dinner with two rats on the ground eating fallen scraps from the table. However, it was the image you see, which perhaps subtler than the previous two, that made it as the final image for print.
This ‘bus stop’ lithograph poster, 99cm x 150cm, promotes the full Think Tank album that was released on 05.05.03 in the UK.
