‘CND Soldiers’ is a powerful statement from Banksy against war and violence. The image depicts two soldiers acting as graffiti vandals and painting a peace sign on a wall. The use of bloody red ‘paint’ further emphasises the critique of warfare in a satirical and shocking manner.

The artwork first emerged during an anti-war protest led by Brian Haw outside the Houses of Parliament. Haw, an English peace activist, resided in the Westminster peace camp for a decade.

‘CND Soldiers’ is a limited-edition silkscreen print released by POW* in 2005. The edition consists of 350 signed prints and 350 unsigned prints.

*Pictures on Walls (POW) was established in 2003, partly by Banksy, to provide artists with a platform to sell their work directly, without having to pay dealer commissions. It played a significant role in supporting emerging street artists and enabling them to sustain their careers by producing high-quality original prints.
