KIK OFF Blak Twang CD
2002

Released in 2002 on the Bad Magic label, the Kik Off album by Blak Twang features Banksy’s artwork on the front, back and inside covers.

The cover illustrates the artist Blak Twang in stencil form, wearing glasses and a sheepskin jacket. His outerwear has a long established connection to British football (soccer), as the sheepskin jacket was often worn by late UK sports commentator, John ‘Motty’ Motson.

Blak Twang stands front and centre with images of riot police within a football stadium framed behind him. Riot police are also closely associated with British football, particularly in the early 1980s, and these law enforcement officers also serve as another of Banksy’s repetitive motifs.

The LP version of the same album offers an alternative cover as Blak Twang sits in an armchair, holding a Molotov cocktail and cigar.
