Sad Tweety
2008
Sculpture

First exhibited at “The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill,” New York City. In this unsettling animatronic installation, Banksy reimagines the beloved Looney Tunes character Tweety Bird as a frail, featherless creature slumped inside a cage. The familiar icon of childhood innocence becomes a haunting image of captivity and neglect. Part of The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill exhibition in New York, the work continues Banksy’s critique of consumerism, animal exploitation, and mass entertainment. By stripping Tweety of its cartoon charm, the artist exposes the darker side of our relationship with animals and the emptiness behind our culture’s manufactured cuteness.
